Activision Ricochet Anti-Cheat Banned 23000 COD Cheaters

When we talk about the problems that can be found in multiplayer, we always find the suspicion of cheaters. Activision is making a move and the new measures against cheaters in Call of Duty show great effectiveness with thousands of bans. A task that falls to Activision’s RICOCHET Team and which they seem to be taking steps forward effectively in recent months.

In fact, some interesting results have been made public, relating to a latest advance in technology that is giving good results in its application for this type of measures. The cheater detection functions seem to be having a very positive result and this has led to the expulsion of up to 23,000 players in just one month.

As the Call of Duty Updates account on X proudly shows, the team responsible for addressing this aspect has provided very interesting information about its progress. In this aspect, the evolution of the system allows us to know that the new measures against cheaters in Call of Duty show great effectiveness with thousands of bans. The work consists of improving those algorithms and mechanisms detection systems that cheaters use and with the arrival of new Machine Learning technologies, they are getting better results.

The use of Machine Learning technologies involves the use of algorithms that allow learning automatically, allowing the system to become more intelligent and efficient while the software used by cheaters also evolves and becomes more sophisticated. An example was released, where it was revealed that RICOCHET’s SPLAT function was activated more than 2,000 times since its launch. This mechanism allows cheaters to be boycotted, subjecting them to a sudden action that increases gravity, causing any small jump in the game to become certain death.

That is to say, before the ban itself, there are other ways to try to detect the user who cheats and, in addition, cause them a humiliating death. But, although they are satisfied with the progress they have made and more than 23,000 expelled players have been notified in one month, they know that it is not over. The system still has a way to go to be fully efficient. And, although it is a matter of believing the complaints of some users who say they do not use cheats and have been banned, it cannot be ignored that there may be users who do not use cheats who can be detected by this system. Its detection and banning are not automatic; the results obtained must be analyzed to verify that the alert responds to the use of a system.
