A new free PS2 emulator slips into the Xbox store

Today we present a new emulator for PlayStation 2, Sony’s most successful console can now run on Xbox One and Xbox Series.

The emulator in question is available in the Microsoft Store, but there is a little “trick” so that it has not yet been banned from the store, since it technically does not comply with the company’s policies as it does not allow emulators to be uploaded. It’s published in a hidden format, so you can’t technically access it with a browser.

The creator of the app managed to get it listed and working on the Xbox Series X/S platforms using a Games SDK and not the usual Apps SDK Microsoft has on offer. So technically, it is a game that runs games and not an app.

Users report that once downloaded and set up correctly, the PS2 emulator on the Xbox Series X/S runs quite smoothly. It also manages to maintain its frames without much of a problem. Setting up the emulator also requires the BIOS and you’ll need ISOs to run the games. Keep in mind that installing the emulator and downloading BIOS files and ISO game images are done completely at your own risk.

With that being said, if you are a person who likes to dab into some classic gaming and doesn’t mind going to extreme lengths to install PS2 games, this emulator seems to work nicely. There are a few videos already on YouTube showing the emulator in action and how to install it. Below is an embedded video of it running Bloody Roar 3.
