Shredder Becomes Mechagodzilla in the Wildest TMNT x Godzilla Figure Yet

Playmates is leaning hard into the monster mayhem with its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla collection, and the latest figure might be the most ridiculous—and somehow most appropriate—combination yet: Shredder x Mechagodzilla.

Yes. The Turtles’ most recognizable enemy has officially gone full mechanical kaiju.

Shredder Gets the Mechagodzilla Treatment

Inspired by the TMNT x Godzilla crossover, the new figure takes Shredder and rebuilds him as a robotic monster inspired by Mechagodzilla.

The concept works surprisingly well. Shredder already has the armor, blades, attitude and general “I want to destroy everything” energy. Give him a giant mechanical body and suddenly he looks like he was born to stomp through a miniature Tokyo.

Playmates describes the figure as a combination of TMNT and kaiju characteristics, with detailed sculpting and decoration designed to make the two identities feel like one character rather than simply putting a Shredder head on a robot body.

And there’s a particularly fun bit of nostalgia behind the whole thing.

The figure draws from the classic 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series while also incorporating the nostalgic styling of the 1978 Godzilla animated series. This Is Shredder as a Kaiju
