DC Announces First Official Justice League TTRPG in Nearly 20 Years
DC fans are officially heading back to the tabletop.
Brazilian publisher D20 Culture has revealed Justice League Unlimited: The Roleplaying Game, the first official Justice League tabletop RPG released in nearly two decades. Developed alongside legendary comic writer Mark Waid, the upcoming game places players inside DC’s evolving post-Absolute Power continuity, where the newly expanded Justice League operates from the Watchtower and opens its ranks to heroes across the globe.
The RPG is designed as a narrative-driven experience that allows players to either control iconic DC heroes or create completely original characters with customizable origins, philosophies, and power sets. According to D20 Culture, players can build everything from Kryptonians and Amazons to Meta-Humans and cybernetic heroes while defining their own moral code through the game’s “Tacit Clauses” system.
Set after the events of Absolute Power, the story takes place during the era of the “Unlimited” Justice League, where every hero is invited to join a global network of super-powered defenders operating from a new Watchtower satellite. The setting directly connects to DC’s current comic continuity and expands the universe established through the Justice League Unlimited comic initiative.
Gameplay focuses on cinematic storytelling rather than heavy simulation mechanics. Players will participate in combat encounters, large-scale rescue missions called “Saving Scenes,” quieter character-driven “Interlude Moments,” and unpredictable events triggered by the game’s Crisis Die mechanic. The system also introduces Ascension Points (PAX), which allow heroes to evolve their powers over time — potentially scaling from street-level abilities to planet-altering magic and cosmic threats.
D20 Culture CEO Peterson Rodrigues described the project as an opportunity to create “an original and bold system” that captures the scale and mythology of DC’s superhero universe, while Mark Waid emphasized the game’s potential for collaborative storytelling that feels authentic to existing DC canon.
The crowdfunding campaign for Justice League Unlimited: The Roleplaying Game is scheduled to launch on Gamefound in July 2026.
