Dynamite Entertainment has officially announced that The X-Files is returning as a brand-new ongoing comic book series, set to hit shelves this winter. And yes—Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are right back where they belong: front and center, diving headfirst into government cover-ups, suburban urban legends, and terrifying extraterrestrial encounters.

For long-time X-Philes and comic readers, the creative team announcement makes this news even sweeter. Helming the new ongoing series is writer Joe Harris, who previously earned serious fan acclaim for his work on IDW’s The X-Files: Season 10 and Season 11 runs. Harris has a rare, razor-sharp handle on the banter, the tension, and the overarching paranoia that made the original show an absolute cultural powerhouse.

Joining Harris on art duties is Riley Brown (Dead Acre: Black Badge), whose sharp line work and dynamic visual pacing are poised to bring a fresh, moody aesthetic to the investigative duo.

“The X-Files has always been sacred to me,” Harris shared in the release. “From my own early TV fandom on Friday and Sunday nights to getting to work on one of the greatest supernatural thriller/science fiction franchises in history, the further adventures of Agents Mulder and Scully have occupied a very special place in my head and career. I am beyond honored to write them and I am absolutely over the moon to work with Dynamite on this new series.”

Dynamite publisher Nick Barrucci noted that adding The X-Files to their lineup is a major milestone as the publisher expands its 20th Century Studios and Disney portfolio—following closely on the heels of Kelly Thompson’s hit Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel comics.

While exact plot details remain strictly classified—like whether these new stories will bridge specific gaps in TV canon or stick to classic “Monster-of-the-Week” standalone cases—one thing is clear: the timeless chemistry between the skeptic and the believer is as vibrant as ever.
