Blade Runner Returns to Tokyo in a New Comic Series
Titan Comics is expanding its cyberpunk universe with Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus – Die With Honor, a new four-issue miniseries bringing back familiar characters, dangerous Replicant experiments, and another conspiracy lurking beneath Tokyo’s neon-lit streets.
The future of Blade Runner is heading back to Tokyo. Titan Comics is continuing its Tokyo Nexus storyline with Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus – Die With Honor, a new chapter that pushes the conflict between corporations, organized crime, and Replicants into even more dangerous territory.
Written by Nancy A. Collins, with artwork by Mariano Taibo, the four-issue miniseries continues the events of To Lose Is to Win, bringing back former marine Mead and Replicant combat model Stix.
A New Threat Beneath Tokyo
The story picks up after the events of the previous miniseries. Mead and Stix are still alive, something their former commanding officer, Uldren, desperately wants to keep secret. His betrayal and stolen research from Tyrell Corporation have helped Cheshire develop a new generation of illegal Replicants.
But these aren’t ordinary synthetic humans. The new combat models share Stix’s distinctive kill signature, making them particularly dangerous and adding another layer to an already complicated conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Alura, a key figure connected to Cheshire’s Replicant program, makes an unexpected move. Rather than simply eliminating Stix, she introduces him to the Borealis Team, a group of three Replicants cloned from members of his former Aurora unit.
Stix is given a new mission: lead the team in hunting down Madame Nomura.
Elsewhere, Mead continues investigating the murder of Nomura’s daughters. Her search takes her into Cheshire’s operations, where she discovers a much larger conflict involving rival Yakuza factions and a second team of Replicant assassins.
Tokyo Remains a Perfect Blade Runner Setting
One of the most interesting aspects of Tokyo Nexus is how it approaches the Blade Runner universe through a different cultural and urban landscape.
Instead of relying exclusively on the familiar Los Angeles imagery, the series explores a Tokyo shaped by corporate control, underground communities, organized crime, and technological exploitation.
The result is a setting where the familiar questions surrounding artificial life, identity, and corporate power take on a different visual and narrative dimension.
Mariano Taibo returns to illustrate the series, maintaining the visual continuity established in previous Tokyo Nexus stories, while Nancy A. Collins continues developing the complicated relationships between its human and Replicant characters.

For fans who enjoy the darker corners of the Blade Runner universe, Tokyo Nexus offers another opportunity to explore a world where the line between human and machine continues to become increasingly difficult to define.
And in a city ruled by corporate interests and underground power struggles, being human might be the least of anyone’s problems.

Alura shows the Kalanthia traitor, who is head of the Cheshire bootleg Replicant program, photos of Stix and Mead, realising they are still alive, he panics and demands she kill them. Alura refuses until Uldren makes good on his promise of delivering bootleg Replicants as promised. Later, she summons Stix and introduces him to the ‘Borealis Team’ — a three-Cheshire Replicant team who are all clones of the original Aurora Team who served with Stix on Kalanthia. He is ordered to lead them on a mission to hunt down and kill Madame Nomura.
Meanwhile, Mead, still believing that Stix is the killer of Sayo — Nomura’s daughter, steals his Cheshire ID card and breaks into Cheshire HQ in search of evidence and witnesses the brutal mass assassination of the Yakuza sub-bosses by a second Cheshire Replicant kill team led by Lerna, who is linked to Alura via one of the two surviving Aurora Yokes.
