The creator of Dead Space is back with another terrifying sci-fi adventure The Callisto Protocol

The creator of Dead Space wasn’t too pleased to not be included in the current Dead Space remake that is in the works. But not to fret. He is making up for that ten-fold with Striking Distance Studios and Krafton’s The Callisto Protocol.

The Callisto Protocol takes place in the year 2320 on the Black Iron prison colony on Jupiter’s “dead moon.” Callisto is owned by the (definitely very evil) United Jupiter Company. Our protagonist, prisoner Jacob Lee, must escape the invasion of the monstrous biophages and uncover the secrets of Black Iron and the prison’s shady warden.
It’s not going to be fun though, as much of the trailer proves. Hanging bodies loom, security drones stalk the halls, and then there are the screeching hordes of bio pages and the warden, who speaks of rebirth.

The synopsis for The Callisto Protocol goes like this:

Set on Jupiter’s dead moon Callisto in the year 2320, The Callisto Protocol challenges players to escape the maximum-security Black Iron Prison and uncover the terrifying secrets of the United Jupiter Company. Players will need to search their surroundings and adapt their tactics, using a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat to survive a mysterious outbreak that has thrown Callisto into chaos.

This game is going to be incredible. I was really excited about a Dead Space remake to get my yearly quota of outer space terror in gaming, but it looks like The Callisto Protocol is going to completely own the year in that genre.
