Square Enix Reveals New Dragon Quest Monsters Game for Series’ 25th Anniversary

This year Square Enix will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Dragon Quest Monsters spin-off series and it just teased a new game. According to the tease, that came at the end of a brief trailer celebrating the history of the series, Square Enix is developing the game for Nintendo Switch.

Dragon Quest Monsters spin-off series, it originally debuted on the Game Boy Color on September 25, 1998, and focused on the ability to recruit monsters to fight alongside the hero as a party. It also comes with breeding and progression mechanics that may remind you of the Pokemon series, albeit there are differences that make Dragon Quest Monsters more than a clone.

The series has been continuing ever since with plenty of additional games including the three Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker games released between 2006 and 2016. The fact that the new game is for Nintendo Switch should not surprise, considering that the series is mostly rooted in mobile platforms.
