Dead Cells announces its new DLC – Return to Castlevania

The legendary Konami game returns through Dead Cells with a new DLC that will hit all platforms in early 2023.

Castlevania is back! Its unforgettable characters and gothic setting will combine with the fast-paced combat of the award-winning dungeon crawler Dead Cells in an unprecedented collaboration. Just announced during The Game Awards with a new animated trailer, Dead Cells has a new DLC coming in Q1 2023: Return to Castlevania!

Players who decide to follow in the footsteps of the Belmont clan will fight from the base of Dracula’s castle to the throne room located at the top of the monstrous structure, through two levels filled with hordes of evil monsters.

You won’t be alone, as Richter Belmont and Alucard will spawn throughout your mission, guiding you as you make your way through the candlelit hallways and supplying you with strong weapons (sometimes of their own free will, sometimes not). There’s no use guessing what those weapons are! Wield the Vampire Slayer whip, combat cross, holy water, and many more iconic Castlevania weapons, all carefully transposed into the fast-paced, frenetic combat of Dead Cells, while retaining its classic styling.

The big reveal, though, is that Return to Castlevania features a secret level that, once discovered, unlocks Richter Belmont as a playable character. Richter – who first appeared in 1993’s Castlevania: Rondo of Blood – comes equipped with his later Symphony of the Night moves, and players are able to expand on that by breaking candles to unlock additional moves, such as a high jump, and new weapons.
