Atari Announces Reimagined Atari 2600 Cartridge Collection As Part Of 50th Anniversary Celebration

Atari is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a new series of Atari XP game cartridges. Fans will be able to buy cartridges for both missile instructions And adventure Both of which will work on a classic Atari 2600 console.

Atari’s XP Initiative is a relatively new product line for the gaming icon. This allows fans to purchase limited-edition versions of the classic game, complete with vintage packaging, with 2600 working cartridges. Atari has already released cartridges Yars’ Revenge, harmful and aqua venturemissile instructionsadventure are the latest additions to the line and controversially the biggest yet. Both are iconic Atari 2600 titles that had a fundamental impact on the video game industry. Both games will be available as Atari XP cartridges that will retail for $100.

Both games come in bright orange packaging that contains some physical bonuses, such as a full booklet, an enamel pin, and a patch. Both can be played on an original Atari 2600 console if you still have one kicking in. Like other Atari XP games, the cartridge has an acrylic logo that lights up during play.

Atari’s anniversary planning is just the beginning when it comes to the XP line. The company plans to release 10 titles in the next six months. The remaining eight are yet to be revealed.

Players and collectors can preorder each game for $99.99 at AtariXP and at Limited Run Games. Preorders will close on July 31, with cartridges shipping to customers 30 days after the preorder window closes. The 50th Anniversary Collection Limited Edition Cartridges include:
