Prey – Predator franchise Official Trailer

From the director of 10 Cloverfield Lane, the Predator franchise is back with the brand new movie Prey, and 20th Century Studios will be bringing the film exclusively to Hulu on August 5. While you wait, the full official trailer for Prey has arrived, a badass first look at the next Predator movie that promises this one is going to be a very different hunting experience.

We meet Amber Midthunder‘s main character in this first look, a Comanche warrior trying to prove herself as a hunter. While on a hunt for a massive bear, Naru has her prize snatched right out from under her by an invisible beast, which she soon realizes is the greatest hunter in the entire galaxy. We’re of course talking about the horror icon known as Predator.

From 20th Century Studios, the return of the Predator franchise is directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), and it’s positioned as a prequel to the original that will tell the tale of the Predator’s first journey to our planet. Amber Midthunder (“Legion”) stars as a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (“Jack Ryan,” “Treadstone”), and produced by John Davis (“Jungle Cruise,” “The Predator”) and Jhane Myers (“Monsters of God”), with Lawrence Gordon (“Watchmen”), Marty Ewing (“It: Chapter Two”), James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff (“Fantasy Island”) serving as executive producers.

Prey will adhere to the Predator franchise tradition of following an action-heavy entry with a more subdued thriller that strikes a similar tone to the original in which a small group of capable soldiers was systematically hunted and killed in a South American jungle. Following Predator 2’s setting of Los Angeles, Predators brought the action back to a natural world, however with a more sci-fi twist. Prey‘s hunter-vs-hunted plot will be set within the untouched natural landscape which contrasts the bombastic suburban military warfare featured heavily in its predecessor, The Predator.
