MC Drops First Trailer for ‘Nautilus,’ a Gritty Prequel to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

AMC and AMC+ have released the official trailer for Nautilus, a 10-part adventure drama series that reimagines the early life of Captain Nemo, the enigmatic antihero of Jules Verne’s classic novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The series is set to debut on June 29, 2025, with a two-episode premiere on AMC and AMC+, followed by weekly Sunday episodes.
Originally developed by Disney+ and later shelved due to internal restructuring, Nautilus was picked up by AMC for U.S. distribution, while it premiered in the U.K. via Prime Video in late 2024. Now, American audiences will finally get to experience this bold origin story.
Starring Star Trek: Discovery’s Shazad Latif as Nemo, the story follows an Indian prince stripped of his royal heritage and imprisoned by the ruthless East India Mercantile Company. After engineering a daring escape aboard the technologically advanced submarine Nautilus, Nemo vows revenge and sets out on a perilous journey across the oceans.
Who is in the Nautilus cast?
Nautilus stars Latif alongside Georgia Flood (Apples Never Fall) as Humility Lucas, Céline Menville(Emily in Paris) as Loti, Thierry Fremont (Liaison) as Benoit, and Kayden Price as Blaster, with guest appearances from Oscar-nominee Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv, and Noah Taylor. Additional stars, per IMDb, are Luke Arnold as Captain Billy Millais and Jacob Collins-Levy as Youngblood, Benedict Hardie as Edward Cuff, and more.
The trailer teases a high-stakes, visually rich saga that blends themes of rebellion, discovery, and steampunk-inspired underwater adventure — promising a gripping reimagining of a literary icon’s backstory.
