Apple Reveals First Trailer of Korean Sci-Fi Series ‘Dr. Brain’

Apple TV+ has its first Korean-language series with Dr. Brain, which is based on a webtoon by Hong Jacga. Starring Lee Sun-kyun (Parasite) and written and directed by Kim Jee-woon (I Saw the Devil), the six-episode series is about a scientist seeking to understand a tragedy—by sifting through the memories of the dead.

Sci-fi loves to muck about with memory, most recently in the watery Reminiscence, but “brain syncs with the dead” is a rather different spin on the concept. Apple’s summary explains:

The series follows a brilliant brain scientist Sewon (Lee Sun-kyun) who suffers a horrific personal tragedy when his family falls victim to a mysterious accident. Desperate to uncover what happened, he goes to extraordinary lengths to solve the tragic mystery by conducting “brain syncs” with the dead to access their memories for clues.

The trailer is eerie and vague and stylish and seems to give very little away, except that Sewon’s brain is awash in memories that don’t belong to him—memories that feel like hallucinations, and grow stranger and stranger as the trailer progresses.

Dr. Brain premieres on Apple TV+ on November 3rd in the US, and November 4th in the rest of the world. Episodes will be released weekly.
