First Look at ‘The Monkey’: A Terrifying Trailer for King’s Horror Masterpiece

The wait is over for horror fans! The Red Band trailer for The Monkey, the latest adaptation of a Stephen King short story, has just dropped—and it’s terrifyingly good. Based on one of King’s most unsettling tales, this upcoming movie promises to deliver bone-chilling scares and a haunting atmosphere.

The Monkey is a short horror story that appeared in King’s Skeleton Crew, a 1985 collection that also featured The Mist, The Jaunt, The Raft, Survivor Type, The Reach, and more.

Theo James (“The White Lotus”), Tatiana Maslany (SheHulkAttorney at Law), Elijah Wood (Maniac), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends) and Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek) star in this one.

The trailer, released earlier today, gives us a taste of the psychological terror that defines King’s works. Featuring eerie visuals, unsettling music, and a cursed monkey toy that holds a malevolent power, the preview teases a story that will send shivers down your spine.

The film stays true to King’s signature blend of psychological horror and supernatural menace. The Red Band trailer is not for the faint of heart, showcasing moments of sheer dread, creepy atmosphere, and visceral scares.

This isn’t the first time King’s works have been adapted for the big screen, but The Monkey marks a return to some of his lesser-known stories, offering a fresh source of horror for long-time fans and newcomers alike.

When is it released? The Monkey arrives in theaters on February 21, 2025
