Fan-Made but Fearless: Resident Evil’s ‘RESURRECTION’ Reveals First Trailer

Director Andrew Saullo’s highly anticipated Resident Evil fan project, RESURRECTION: A Biohazard Story, stepped into the spotlight tonight with the world premiere of its official trailer during The Horror Game Awards 2025.

The trailer debut marked a major moment for the fan-made series, drawing attention from both horror fans and long-time Resident Evil followers. Showcased alongside major genre titles, RESURRECTION stood out for its cinematic ambition and clear respect for Capcom’s iconic survival horror franchise.

Set within the Resident Evil universe, RESURRECTION: A Biohazard Story is a four-part fan series that revisits familiar characters and themes while introducing a new bioterror threat. Though unofficial, the project has been praised for its production value, tone, and commitment to the series’ roots in tension-driven horror.

Following the trailer’s premiere, interest around the project surged online, positioning RESURRECTION as one of the most talked-about fan adaptations showcased at the event.

the story for RESURRECTION: A Biohazard Story takes place years after the mansion incident, where a viral outbreak has spread through Rosa Enferma, a remote town in Mexico. Chris, Barry, Jill, and Rebecca are pulled back into the nightmare as Albert Wesker resurfaces and a new bioterror threat emerges.

The series, which will not be tied to official Resident Evil canon (for copyright reasons), will reunite members of the cast of the original Resident Evil cutscenes in Charlie KraslavskyGreg Smith, Eric Pirius and Linda, who played Chris Redfield, Barry Burton, Albert Wesker and Rebecca Chambers, respectively. Joining the original cast will be Annie Roig as Jill.

The series is currently in post-production and is expected to release for free in episodic form in 2026, continuing a growing trend of high-quality fan projects gaining mainstream recognition within the horror and gaming communities.
