The Romero family legacy of zombies is alive—and very undead. Tina Romero, daughter of horror legend George A. Romero, has dropped the first trailer for her upcoming film Queens of the Dead, and it’s already making waves for its gleeful mix of camp, blood, and unapologetic queer energy.

The story kicks off at a massive drag warehouse party in Brooklyn, just as the undead begin to rise. Party promoter Dre (played by Katy O’Brian) must rally performers, queens, and revelers to survive the night against hordes of zombies.

The film features a powerhouse LGBTQ+ ensemble cast including Nina West, Dominique Jackson, Margaret Cho, Jaquel Spivey, Riki Lindhome, and Cheyenne Jackson. The trailer teases outrageous kills—like a drag queen using a stiletto corkscrew on a zombie—alongside glitter, performances, and a whole lot of gore.

Queens of the Dead premiered earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival and has been praised for balancing classic Romero-style horror with social satire, humor, and a campy celebration of queer culture. Written by Tina Romero and Erin Judge, the movie promises to be both a tribute to the Romero zombie legacy and a fresh reinvention of the genre.

The film is set to hit theaters nationwide on October 24, 2025, just in time for Halloween.
