Netflix is stepping into new territory with If Wishes Could Kill, its first young adult–focused Korean horror series, set to premiere on April 24. The show taps into the anxieties of hyper‑connected teens by centering its story on Girigo, a mysterious app that promises to grant any wish—only to start a terrifying countdown to death once the wish comes true.

Directed by Park Youn‑seo, the series follows five high school friends whose ordinary routines are shattered the moment they interact with the app. As their wishes begin manifesting in unsettling ways, they’re forced to confront the horrifying cost behind Girigo’s power. The cast includes Jeon So‑young, Kang Mi‑na, Baek Sun‑ho, Hyun Woo‑seok, and Lee Hyo‑je, all portraying teens caught in a deadly chain they must break before time runs out.

Early teasers have already sparked buzz online, thanks to the show’s blend of supernatural horror, teen drama, and digital‑age paranoia. With Korea’s strong track record in genre storytelling, If Wishes Could Kill is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most intriguing spring releases.
