Jimmy & Stiggs Trailer Unleashes Alien Bloodshed in Eli Roth’s New Studio Debut
The Horror Section, Eli Roth’s newly launched studio, has dropped its first big splash — and it’s drenched in neon gore. The debut trailer for Jimmy & Stiggs, a horror-comedy from genre stalwarts Joe Begos (VFW, Bliss) and Matt Mercer, promises an outlandish ride packed with alien blood, booze-fueled chaos, and DIY special effects.
The film follows Jimmy (played by Begos himself), a washed-up filmmaker who becomes convinced he’s been abducted by aliens. Recruiting his old friend Stiggs (Mercer), the two spiral into a hallucinatory showdown of drugs, paranoia, and interstellar carnage.
What makes Jimmy & Stiggs stand out is its unapologetically handmade aesthetic. Shot on 16mm film and crafted with practical effects, puppets, fishing wire, and repurposed toys, the project took four years to complete inside Begos’s Los Angeles apartment. The trailer teases the kind of gonzo spectacle not seen since early Peter Jackson or Sam Raimi splatter cinema.
Eli Roth himself praised the film as a throwback to the raw, anarchic energy that inspired his own career. “This is the kind of wild, practical-effects-driven cinema I fell in love with,” Roth noted, hailing Begos and Mercer’s vision as a perfect launchpad for The Horror Section.
Jimmy & Stiggs premiered in theaters on August 15, 2025, introducing audiences to a neon-drenched world of alien bloodshed and unhinged comedy that already feels destined for cult status.
