HBO has released the full official trailer for IT: Welcome to Derry, the upcoming supernatural horror series that serves as a prequel to the IT films. The trailer gives fans a terrifying glimpse into Pennywise’s early reign of terror in the town of Derry, Maine, set in 1962.

In the footage, a Black family moves into a climate of suspicion and racial tension, arriving just as children begin disappearing under mysterious circumstances. The young residents of Derry, including the newcomers, are drawn into unsettling events and eerie phenomena that hint at the monstrous force lurking beneath the town’s surface.

Bill Skarsgård reprises his menacing role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, returning as a central figure in this origin story.  The series is created by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, with the latter also serving as co-showrunner alongside Brad Caleb Kane.

IT: Welcome to Derry is set to premiere on October 26, 2025, on HBO. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly.  The first season spans nine episodes and explores one of the earliest cycles of horror in Derry, laying the groundwork for future seasons that promise to travel back to other eras from Stephen King’s novel.

Fans of the IT franchise and newcomers alike will be watching closely: the trailer suggests the series will deliver not just scares, but also social tensions, mystery, and supernatural dread. With its fall release closing in, IT: Welcome to Derryaims to expand the lore of King’s universe while reviving the nightmares that made Pennywise one of horror’s most iconic villains.
