A24 has released the official trailer for UNDERTONE, a psychological horror that blends podcast culture with supernatural terror. Written and directed by Ian Tuason, the film stars Nina Kiri (The Handmaid’s Tale) as Evy, a paranormal podcast host who returns home to care for her dying mother. Soon after, she begins receiving ten mysterious audio recordings from a young pregnant couple plagued by strange noises in their home.

As the recordings intensify, Evy realizes the woman’s story mirrors her own, pulling her into a spiral of paranoia and dread. Critics have already praised Tuason’s use of sound as the primary weapon of fear, drawing comparisons to cult horror hits like Skinamarink.

The film premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival, where A24 quickly acquired worldwide distribution rights. Its U.S. release is set for March 13, 2026, with international dates to follow.

Tuason’s breakout with UNDERTONE has secured him a major opportunity: he will direct the next installment of the Paranormal Activity franchise, cementing his place as a rising voice in horror cinema.
