AppleTV+ Godzilla series ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ shares first trailer
Revealed at New York Comic Con 2023, the new Legacy of Monsters trailer dives deep into the mystery of the organization known as Monarch in a world still coming to grips with the fact that monsters do indeed exist. Numerous terrifying kaiju appear.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is one of Apple’s most ambitious projects, and it’s part of the expansive “Monsterverse”
Legacy of Monsters premieres on Apple TV+ this November. The 10-episode series hails from the duo of Chris Black and Matt Fraction. Matt Shakman directs the first two episodes. The show stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, Elisa Lasowski, and John Goodman. It is set within Legendary‘s MonsterVerse, which already includes Godzilla (2014), Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Kong: Skull Island, and Godzilla vs. Kong.
“Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch,” an official synopsis reads.
“Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army Officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows,” it continues. “…[T]his dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and how epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.”
The first two episodes of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters arrive Friday, November 17 on Apple TV+. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly through January 12, 2024.
