Konami’s Beloved Baseball Series Returns Summer 2026 on Switch

Nintendo revealed during its latest Nintendo Direct presentation that Konami’s long-running baseball franchise Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū will return with a new installment titled Powerful Pro Yakyū 2026-2027. The game is set to launch this summer for Nintendo Switch in both physical and digital formats.

The announcement video featured MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani, who will also appear as a playable character in the game. Ohtani’s involvement highlights Konami’s commitment to blending authentic baseball talent with the series’ signature cartoonish style and arcade-inspired gameplay.

Powerful Pro Yakyū has been a staple of Japanese sports gaming since its debut in 1994, known for its accessible mechanics and charming chibi-style athletes.
