Need For Speed Unbound Officially Revealed

EA has officially revealed Need For Speed Unbound, the first new Need For Speed game in three years, and it hits new-gen consoles and PC this December.

After leaking earlier this week, EA has released the official reveal trailer for Need For Speed and as leaks and rumors suggested, it’s quite a drastic shift in style for the series. It features the slick realistic visuals fans of the series know quite well but this time, it’s mixed with an almost anime-like animation style. It looks great, in my opinion, but it likely won’t be for everybody.

A trailer released Thursday gave fans their first look at the newly revamped art style, which is meant to reflect the franchise’s return to its street racing roots, as well as the addition of rapper A$AP Rocky, who will have his own mode in the new delivery. Its emphasis on art and graffiti will spill over into gameplay, with Burst Nitrous power-ups rewarded for stylish driving.

In development since at least 2020, Need for Speed Unbound marks many of the items on fans’ wish lists from years past. In addition to a firm focus on street racing, Need for Speed Unbound will include an offline single-player mode and cross-play (though not cross-progression). It will continue to put an emphasis on the cars themselves, meaning the cockpit view is out, but the hood and bumper cameras are in.

Need For Speed: Unbound is expected to launch on December 2nd for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
