Call of Duty, Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 will be part of Xbox Game Pass
Activision Blizzard’s library of games will be coming to Xbox Game Pass once the acquisition deal closes, which includes Call of Duty and other blockbuster titles like Diablo and Overwatch.
Phil Spencer has confirmed that Call of Duty (along with games from the likes of Diablo and Overwatch) will eventually come to Game Pass, but it will still be out on PlayStation on the same day.
Announced in a Microsoft blog post, Spencer confirmed that Activision Blizzard’s library of games will be coming to Xbox Game Pass once the acquisition deal closes, which includes Call of Duty and other blockbuster titles like Diablo and Overwatch.
“We intend to make Activision Blizzard’s much-loved library of games – including Overwatch, Diablo and Call of Duty – available on Game Pass and grow those communities of players,” Spencer said in the blog post. “By offering even more value to gamers, we look forward to continuing to grow Game Pass, broadening its appeal to mobile phones and any connected device.”
It could be a while before Activision Blizzard games hit Game Pass, of course, and Spencer didn’t give any specific dates or details about which games are coming to the service.
As with other first party Xbox titles like Forza and Halo, future iterations of these Activision Blizzard franchises will presumably arrive on Game Pass on day one. However, Overwatch 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 have a 2022 release date, while Diablo 4 is slated for next year, meaning they could go on sale before the acquisition deal closes. .
