The Lego Atari 2600 has been officially announced for Atari’s 50th anniversary
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the US manufacturer of game consoles, home computers and computer games Atari Inc., LEGO would like to once again offer a retrospective to gamers from the pioneering days of the computer games industry. All children of the eighties can wallow in nostalgia with the LEGO Atari 2600 with the set number 10306.
The buildable video game console is the second in full-scale, after LEGO 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System paved the way for retro consoles. In terms of both the set number and the content, however, the NES clearly belonged to the LEGO Super Mario theme, while the LEGO 10306 Atari belongs to the series of Creator Expert sets , which is now continued under the name LEGO Icons .
The implementation of the video game console is the type/model B of the Atari 2600 with four switches with imitation wood (the predecessor had six toggle switches). The original version of the CX40 joystick is also included as an accessory and can be connected to the console. A special highlight are the three absolute game classics Adventure, Asteroids and Centipede, which can be stored as cartridges in a sorting box and at the same time recreated as small mini-scenes.
As a further surprise, the console can be slid open, revealing a small scene in which a minifigure is playing his Atari in a 1980s living room on his tube TV at home. In addition to references in the form of posters and an Atari torso, the Atari console is also reproduced in a mini version.
While the details on the cartridges, the small vignettes and the posters inside the 80s room are implemented with stickers, at least the details on the console itself and on the joystick seem to have been solved with prints.
