Playmobil expands Star Trek line with Klingon Bird-of-Prey

Playmobil is celebrating Star Trek Day by releasing the Klingon Bird-of-Prey playset, the latest addition to its Star Trek Universe lineup. Its debut in Star Trek III: The Search For Spock inspired the new playset.

This large replica of the Klingon Bird-of-Prey is both a child’s playset and any Star Trek fan’s perfect display piece due to the exceptional attention to detail. Its assortment of lights, sounds, and detachable sections is also worth noticing.

The Playmobil Klingon Bird-of-Prey is only comprised of 94 parts. This is not a Lego set in which you must painstakingly assemble a large grey ship out of 1000 identical-looking parts. The main body part is mostly one piece, with what appears to be a detachable bridge diorama at the bottom for more intricacy.

The bridge’s roof is confirmed to be detachable, and there is space for some Klingons to rest. The spaceship’s wings on the side may be angled into three positions: attack, flight mode, and landing, with functional cannons on the side.

According to IdleHands, light and sound effects from the series create a realistic Star Trek experience, and several displays are available for the monitor. The lights are powered by a battery or a USB port.

The Playmobil Klingon Bird-of-Prey set has a powerful presence. Even though it is smaller than the Enterprise, it is fire, as youngsters would say. Its dimensions have not yet been public, but this item will require a large display area.

The upcoming 94-piece kit contains miniatures of the whole bridge crew and operational lights and sounds. However, its pricing is $200 less than the Enterprise’s original price. This is wonderful news for Star Trek aficionados who would not pay another $500 on a Playmobil set, yet, the pricing remains exorbitant. The set will be released in October.
