Before Lugosi made his Dracula famous on the silver screen for Universal Pictures in 1931, the actor portrayed the Count in a Broadway adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel from 1927 – 1928. The show ran for 261 performances in New York City before touring the U.S. He would later reprise the role on stage, making several appearances as the Count in 1947 and 1948.
