In honor of Star Wars Day, fans of the galaxy far, far away have a new reason to celebrate. A gripping new fan-made short film titled The 212th has been released, capturing the bravery and brotherhood of the famed Clone Trooper unit, the 212th Attack Battalion.

The fan film, produced independently by a group of dedicated Star Wars enthusiasts, delivers cinematic visuals, compelling action, and a powerful emotional core—hallmarks of the franchise’s best war stories. The 212th pays homage to characters first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, particularly Commander Cody and his battalion under Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The 212th project came about before the creation of Hoplite Studio. It was through our collaboration with the artists on this project that we realised we could embark on the adventure of creating Hoplite Studio. The 212th project took 1.5 years to complete, which is quite a long time, but it was all done during our personal time, outside of work hours.

Set during the height of the Clone Wars, the film offers an intense frontline perspective as the clones face overwhelming odds and moral dilemmas. Fans have already begun praising the project for its authenticity and production quality, calling it “a love letter to Clone Wars storytelling.”

Star Wars Day, celebrated each May 4th with the pun “May the Fourth be with you,” continues to be a launchpad for fan creativity. With Disney’s official content on pause between major releases, projects like The 212th fill the gap with passion-driven storytelling.

The creators of the film released a statement, saying, “This project was made for the fans, by the fans. We grew up with the Clone Wars, and this film is our tribute to the heroes in orange armor who inspired us.”
