“Alien: Monday” – A Gloriously Retro Anime Fan Film

It’s a universally accepted truth that Mondays suck. But not all of us take our Mondays working in space, and even fewer of us take them with the surprise, horrifying arrival of a Xenomorph. That’s the premise behind this brilliantly creepy fan film, “Alien: Monday”. Inspired by both the legendary ’80s sci-fi analog aesthetic of the original Alien and the retro-tinged design trends of anime from that era, the nearly 20-minute short was co-directed by Paul “OtaKing” Johnson and Claudia “Maki” Montealegre.

Johnson, who went viral nearly a decade ago for his Star Wars TIE Fighter anime short, spent six years bringing “Alien: Monday” to life. He blends bright and bold anime coloration with Alien’s world of retrofuturistic design language, creating a suspenseful and visually stunning experience.

Whether you’re a fan of the original Alien or just love retro anime vibes, “Alien: Monday” is a must-watch. Get ready for a Monday that’s out of this world!
