Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics, in partnership with Universal Products & Experiences, have announced the latest installment in their Universal Monsters comic line—The Invisible Man. The four-issue limited series will be written by Eisner Award-winner James Tynion IV (Something Is Killing the Children, The Department of Truth) with art by acclaimed illustrator Dani (Coffin Bound, The Low, Low Woods). The first issue hits comic shops and digital platforms on August 27, 2025.

The series reimagines H.G. Wells’ iconic tale through a psychological horror lens. Jack Griffin, a man long consumed by the desire to be seen, discovers a method to render himself invisible—only to spiral into madness and monstrous behavior. The creative team aims to deliver a harrowing character study rooted in paranoia and isolation.

“This is a deeply personal horror story about a man who thought disappearing would make him powerful—but instead it exposes who he really is,” said Tynion in a press statement. Dani’s gritty, atmospheric style promises to enhance the descent into Griffin’s fractured psyche, with colors by Brad Simpson (The Amazing Spider-Man).

Issue #1 will debut with a wide range of collectible variant covers by a stellar lineup of artists, including:

  • Cover A by Dani & Brad Simpson

  • Cover B by Joshua Middleton

  • 1:10 “Pulp” Variant by David Aja

  • 1:25 “Classic Horror” B&W Variant by Joshua Middleton

  • 1:50 Incentive Cover by Rosemary Valero-O’Connell

  • 1:75 Pencil Sketch Cover by Alex Ross

  • 1:100 Foil Incentive Cover by Christian Ward

  • Blank Sketch Cover

Universal Monsters: The Invisible Man continues Skybound and Universal’s expansion into revitalized horror comics, following successful adaptations like Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives!

The series will be available through comic book retailers and digital storefronts including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play starting August 27.
