Spider-Man ’94: The Animated Saga Returns in New Comic Series
Fans of the classic Spider-Man: The Animated Series are in for a nostalgic swing through the multiverse as Marvel Comics unveils SPIDER-MAN ’94, a 4-issue limited comic event that continues the beloved ‘90s storyline. Written by legendary Spider-Man scribe J.M. DeMatteis and illustrated by Jim Towe, this long-awaited continuation will finally resolve the series’ infamous cliffhanger that left fans hanging for nearly three decades.
The original series, which aired from 1994 to 1998, concluded with Peter Parker on a desperate search for Mary Jane Watson across the multiverse. SPIDER-MAN ’94 picks up exactly where that final episode left off, delivering the long-overdue closure fans have clamored for.
“I’ve always had a deep love for this version of Spider-Man,” said DeMatteis in Marvel’s announcement. “To return to that world and give the story the ending it deserves is a real thrill.”
Jim Towe brings a clean yet nostalgic art style that evokes the animation’s bold visual language, while introducing modern dynamism to the storytelling. From the first preview pages, it’s clear that the creative team honors the spirit of the show while pushing its mythos forward.
Expect a return of familiar faces — both heroic and villainous — and a resolution that pays homage to the classic while opening up new possibilities for animated Spider-Verse storytelling.
