Skybound and Image Comics have officially announced the return of a beloved 1980s franchise: M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand). Revealed during Robert Kirkman’s keynote at ComicsPRO 2026, the new ongoing comic series will be written by Dan Watters (Batman: Dark Patterns, Destro) and illustrated by Pye Parr (Petrol Head, New Gods), with colors by Pierluigi Casolino (DC vs. Vampires) and letters by Rus Wooton (Transformers).

The series marks M.A.S.K.’s high-octane entry into the Energon Universe, the shared continuity that already includes Transformers and G.I. Joe. The debut issue is set to hit comic shops on June 3, 2026, and promises a thrilling blend of transforming vehicles, covert operations, and escalating global threats.

Matt Trakker, the iconic leader of M.A.S.K., returns to the spotlight as the world teeters on the brink of chaos. With the rise of new enemies and the convergence of powerful forces, Trakker must rally his team and their advanced tech to confront a danger that could reshape the future of humanity.

The creative team brings a dynamic mix of gritty storytelling and kinetic visuals. Watters’ flair for complex narratives and Parr’s vibrant, high-energy art style are poised to reintroduce M.A.S.K. to a new generation while honoring its legacy.

This announcement follows Trakker’s surprise appearance in last year’s Free Comic Book Day Energon Universe special, which hinted at bigger plans for the franchise. Now, fans can buckle up for a full-throttle ride that expands the mythos of one of Hasbro’s most inventive properties.
