Marvel Comics is set to shake up the mystical martial arts corner of its universe this fall with the launch of The Undead Iron Fist, a brand-new four-issue limited series debuting on September 10, 2025.

The story marks the return of classic Iron Fist Danny Rand—only this time, he’s back from the dead. Killed in the Iron Fist 50th Anniversary Special #1 by the Ch’i-Lin-possessed Razor Fist, Rand now returns as a decaying, skeletal version of the hero fans once knew. His chi still burns, but so do the questions about his legacy.

The Undead Iron Fist is penned by Jason Loo (Werewolf by Night: Red Band) with art from Fran Galán (Carnage). According to Marvel, the series will explore buried truths about K’un-Lun, the mysterious Iron Fist prophecy, and what it truly means to be “immortal.”

“I was so relieved to not encounter any fan backlash or outrage when I killed off Danny Rand,” Loo said. “Because there was always a plan to bring him back—and what better way than as something utterly unexpected?”

The series will blend horror visuals with martial arts mysticism, a fresh stylistic twist on the legacy of Iron Fist. Main cover art comes from Whilce Portacio, with a variant by Phillip Tan, showcasing the zombified hero in eerie, action-ready poses.

Marvel teases a deeper mythology behind the Iron Fist curse, including questions surrounding the legend that no wielder survives past age 33.

With just four issues to unravel the mystery, The Undead Iron Fist promises to be a haunting chapter in the Iron Fist saga—one packed with action, secrets, and a chilling resurrection.
