Marvel Comics is gearing up to give Tony Stark a fresh start once again. The publisher has officially announced that Iron Man will be relaunched in 2026, with Joshua Williamson set to write and Carmen Carnero providing the artwork.

This new creative team marks the beginning of another major chapter in the ongoing legacy of Marvel’s armored Avenger. Williamson, known for his acclaimed runs on Batman and The Flash, brings a reputation for high-stakes storytelling and character-driven drama. Carnero, celebrated for her dynamic work on Captain Marvel and Miles Morales: Spider-Man, will bring Stark’s world to life with sleek visuals and cinematic energy.

While plot details are still under wraps, early reports suggest the relaunch will explore the balance between Tony Stark’s genius and his growing doubts about the future he’s helped create — a theme that resonates strongly in today’s tech-driven world.

Marvel has been consistently refreshing its core heroes in recent years, and Iron Man’s 2026 relaunch follows the trend of giving flagship titles bold new directions. With Williamson and Carnero at the helm, fans can expect a series that blends innovation, introspection, and plenty of armor-plated action.

The first issue of the new Iron Man series is expected to hit comic shops sometime in 2026.

The unapologetic Iron Man is a once-in-a-lifetime hero – but the beating heart behind the armor is a once-in-a-century genius. Years ago, Tony Stark was knocking on death’s door, so he created the Iron Man armor to survive! What happens the next time death comes calling? What weapon does he create then? What if…someone else creates it first? These questions have haunted Tony for years, a ticking time bomb inside of him waiting to explode. Femme fatale Madame Masque has also asked these questions, and with the power of Advanced Idea Mechanics behind her…she’s ready to create the next great weapon.

“I am a huge Iron Man fan. A massive Iron Man fan… and I knew it was time. I absolutely had to do this,” shared Williamson. “Part of our tagline for this book is that Tony Stark is the most dangerous weapon in the Marvel Universe. When he went into the cave, Tony built the armor… but after I thought about it more, the armor wasn’t what he built in the cave. Tony built Tony.”
