DC K.O.: 36 Heroes Battle in Snyder’s Brutal Tournament Saga
DC Comics has officially announced DC K.O., a major new limited series launching this October under the publisher’s DC All In initiative. Written by Scott Snyder with art by Javi Fernández, the five-part event reimagines Earth as a colossal gladiatorial arena, where 36 heroes and villains must fight through brutal, symbolic levels of combat.
The goal? Generate enough Omega Energy to confront a godlike Darkseid and crown a new King Omega.

The Ultimate Tournament
The event unfolds in a high-stakes bracket format where “when you’re out, you’re out.” Heroes who once fought side by side now face the risk of turning against one another in survival-driven clashes. Each level of the Earth-risen arena raises the emotional and physical stakes, pushing competitors further into the heart of darkness.
Creative Team and Tie-Ins
Snyder leads the core miniseries, while Joshua Williamson expands the story across a range of tie-ins. The visuals will be brought to life by Fernández, alongside an all-star lineup of variant covers from Jim Lee, Greg Capullo, Frank Cho, Daniel Warren Johnson, and more.
The event kicks off with a prelude, Justice League: The Omega Act #1, followed by DC K.O. #1 in October. Tie-ins will span across Titans #28, Superman #31, The Flash #26, and Justice League Unlimited #12.
Superman at the Center
Though dozens of characters will step into the arena, Superman stands as the emotional centerpiece. Snyder describes his arc as a personal battle into his own “heart of darkness,” tying the Man of Steel’s resilience to the fate of the multiverse itself.
A Defining Chapter
More than spectacle, DC K.O. marks a pivotal chapter in the Absolute Universe saga, building on the foundation set by DC All In. With its mix of tournament spectacle, cosmic stakes, and deeply personal storytelling, the series is positioned as one of DC’s most ambitious modern events.
DC K.O. begins this October, and fans can expect each round of the tournament to bring the DC Universe closer to its ultimate reckoning with Darkseid.
