Netflix Debuts Exception Horror Anime Series in 2022
Exception is Netflix’s new foray into the world of anime and horror. The production is created by writer and filmmaker Hirotaka Adachi (Black Fairy Tale, Calling You), who has collaborated with Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy) in designing the characters. On the occasion of the Netflix Geeked Week event, the streaming platform has presented a first poster of the series, which we leave you below. Then we also leave you with all the details that we know:
Here’s your first glimpse at Exception.

In the distant future, humans were forced to leave the earth and migrate to another galaxy. An advanced team of spacecraft arrives on a planet that needs to be terraformed. Each team member is produced by a biological 3D printer.
Exception is the next horror anime series written by Hirotaka Adachi, which has a long history both in the world of anime and horror stories; while the designs of the characters and the monsters come from the hand of Yoshitaka Amano, one of the main designers of the Final Fantasy video game saga. While the plot for this project has yet to be revealed, it appears that it will focus on outer space and the monsters that inhabit it.
This is not the only anime that will be added to the platform’s catalog: in 2020 Netflix made clear its intentions to continue delving into the world of Japanese-style animation in the coming years, establishing new content agreements with three animation companies Japanese and one from Korea. In total, the firm has 9 partners within this sector. Exception is probably not the only project that will see the light soon.
