Tokyo’s Vanilla Gallery is set to unveil an exclusive exhibition dedicated to the erotic artworks of Masamune Shirow, the legendary creator best known for Ghost in the Shell. This special showcase will focus on single-piece illustrations selected from Shirow’s “GREASEBERRIES” and “W・TAILS CAT” series—two of his most visually captivating and sensually charged collections.

The GREASEBERRIES series originally appeared in art collections published by Cannoply (GOT) from 2010 to 2012, and later in Anthurium from 2013 onward. To date, the series spans four books plus GREASEBERRIES ROUGH, each filled with vibrant, detailed illustrations that tell miniature stories through the allure of Shirow’s signature heroines.

Meanwhile, W・TAILS CAT began life in 2002 as a poster project before evolving into a serialized sci-fi erotic fantasy. It ran in Canopuri (GOT) from 2010 to 2011 and in Anthurium from 2013 to 2014, with four published volumes and the companion book W・TAILS CAT Rough. The story follows Miss Cyril, the central character in a futuristic, sensual narrative set in a newly constructed city on Mars.

For fans of Shirow’s intricate art and provocative storytelling, this exhibition offers a rare opportunity to see his works up close and appreciate the technical mastery behind his erotic imagination.
