Katsuhiro Otomo Memories Collector’s Blu-ray Release
On October 3, Anime Limited will release the 1995 anthology feature film Memories in a Collector’s Blu-ray edition, which will include a poster and a 36-page booklet; it will also include the recent English dub of the film made in 2021.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, which previously released the film in North America on DVD, described Memories as follows:
“Created by celebrated animé master Katsuhiro Otomo, Memories consists of three dazzling stories, each delivered with its own astonishing style. “Magnetic Rose,” directed by Koji Morimoto based on a manga short by Otomo, concerns two space travellers following a distress signal drawn into a magnificent world created by one woman’s memories. In director Tensai Okamura‘s “Stink Bomb,” a young chemist accidentally transforms himself into an unstoppable biological weapon set on a direct course for Tokyo. Otomo’s own “Cannon Fodder” depicts a day in the life of a city whose entire purpose is the firing of cannons at an unknown enemy.”
Memories is a 1995 theatrical anime anthology film based on one of Katsuhiro Otomo’s short manga stories. The anthology is directed by three people (one per story); Kōji Morimoto, Tensai Okamura, and Katsuhiro Otomo and produced by studios Studio 4°C and Madhouse. Staff credits also include writers Satoshi Kon and Katsuhiro Otomo, and music composed by Takkyū Ishino, Yoko Kanno, Jun Miyake and Hiroyuki Nagashima. The film first theatrically released in Japan in December 1995.
