Halloween Event: ParaNorman Hits Theaters in Remastered 3D

LAIKA’s ParaNorman Returns in Remastered RealD 3D This Halloween, Complete with Exclusive New Short
(Annecy / Hillsboro, OR) – June 13, 2025 — Laika, the acclaimed stop‑motion animation studio, is reviving its 2012 supernatural hit ParaNorman this Halloween for a special one‑week theatrical run. The film has been newly remastered in stunning RealD 3D (and available in 2D) and will premiere internationally on Thursday, October 23, with U.S. audiences following on Saturday, October 25.
The re-release celebration coincides with Laika’s 20th anniversary and follows the studio’s box‑office smash in 2024: Coraline’s 15th‑anniversary re-issue, which grossed over $56 million worldwide—approximately 70 percent of that in 3D.
🎬 New Short Film: ParaNorman: The Thrifting
Audiences will also experience ParaNorman: The Thrifting, an original CG‑animated short exclusively screened with the feature. Written by ParaNorman co‑director Chris Butler and directed by Laika character designer Thibault LeClercq, the short features voice performances from Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard and Anna Kendrick—reprising her role as Norman’s sister, Courtney.
Why It Matters
Though ParaNorman was modestly priced at $60 million, it earned over $107 million globally upon its 2012 release and secured multiple Academy, BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Annie Award nominations.Today, it’s celebrated for its “visually breathtaking 3‑D stop‑motion fantasy” that blends spooky thrills with heartfelt themes—a fitting “starter horror” for families.
LAIKA Chief Marketing & Operations Officer David Burke noted:
“ParaNorman was a breakthrough film… Bringing it back to theaters in stunning remastered 3D, paired with a brand‑new short film, is an invitation for audiences to rediscover the heart and humor of Norman’s world.”
Fathom Entertainment CEO Ray Nutt added that with Coraline’s success showing 70 percent of ticket sales came from 3D screens, ParaNorman is poised to reach similar heights.
