Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has officially released the first trailer for its upcoming animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s beloved book, The Cat in the Hat. Slated for a global theatrical and IMAX release in February 2026, this marks the mischievous feline’s first-ever fully animated feature.

The film stars Bill Hader as the voice of the iconic Cat, reimagined as a magical agent from the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration (I.I.I.I.). Tasked with lifting the spirits of two siblings—Gabby and Sebastian—as they struggle to adapt to a new town, the Cat must spread cheer and chaos without losing his whimsical hat.

Directed by Alessandro Carloni (Kung Fu Panda 3) and Erica Rivinoja (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs), the film promises a vibrant visual style blending 2D and 3D animation, produced by visual effects giant DNEG.

Joining Hader is a powerhouse voice cast including Xochitl Gomez, Giancarlo Esposito, Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Paula Pell, America Ferrera, and Bowen Yang, among others. The trailer also reveals colorful new characters such as Thing 3 through 13, Pig With a Wig, and Giraffe With a Carafe, expanding the world of Seuss in imaginative new directions.

Bill Damaschke, President of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, called the film “the doorway into our own Seussiverse,” with additional projects like Oh, the Places You’ll Go! and Thing One and Thing Two already in development.

The film hits U.S. theaters on February 27, 2026, with international releases beginning February 25.
